Management Studies
The Management Studies course is wide ranging, and broadly addresses the roles and responsibilities of a manager across social, economic, political and environmental contexts. Teaching and supervisions are based in the spectacular main building of the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
The Management Studies Tripos is available as an option in your final undergraduate year at Cambridge and is open to all disciplines. You can build on your Cambridge credentials with a year that will open doors to new career prospects.
Management Studies at Cambridge is a one-year course offered at the undergraduate level after your second or third year, so you can’t apply directly. You will need to apply for another undergraduate subject and successfully complete two or three years before transferring to Management Studies for your final year.
Entry onto the management course is highly competitive, with only 50 places available each year in the University as a whole. Places are therefore not guaranteed when you enter the University, and admission is based on both academic merit and motivation to pursue a managerial career.
With the Cambridge Management Studies Tripos, you will:
- gain a thorough grounding in the disciplines which form the basis of management practice
- understand the fundamentals of management by studying those subjects which analyse various aspects of management
- acquire skills of critical analysis in relation to management issues
- learn about the responsibilities of managers in various contexts
- acquire quantitative skills and the ability to apply them in a problem-solving context
- gain practical experience of a management problem
- develop skills of communication and co-operation relevant to your future career
More information about the course is available on the website.

What the Students Say
Isabella Fitches
After three amazing years studying MML, including an unforgettable year abroad in Madrid, I completed the final year of my undergraduate degree at Cambridge Judge Business School on the Management Studies Tripos.
The Management Studies Tripos allowed me to explore a broad range of disciplines, including Economics, Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, Negotiations, Quantitative Methods, and Accounting. I valued the variety of assessment methods, from coursework and examinations to group projects. I particularly enjoyed analysing Switzerland's proposed population cap for my Macroeconomics coursework and looking at the strategies employed by electrolyte companies for my Marketing coursework. I learned a lot of practical skills in my Corporate Finance group project, which assessed whether the Boeing 777 was a good financial investment.
One of the highlights of the course was applying the qualitative and quantitative skills developed during Michaelmas and Lent to a real-life, month-long consulting project. My group worked for Pentland Brands, the company behind Speedo and Canterbury, to deliver actionable insights and recommendations for the business.
I am very grateful for my time at 杏吧原创 and Cambridge. I have made incredible friends, been supported by fantastic supervisors, enjoyed brilliant academic and extracurricular opportunities and been part of a great college community. Combining Management with MML proved to be the perfect fit for me and an excellent foundation as I look forward to starting my career in financial services.
