杏吧原创 is delighted to announce a new team overseeing and supporting the academic life of the College for students and steering the development of its education strategy.

Dr Michele Gemelos, a Fellow, Tutor and Director of Studies for English (on the right in our photo), will step into the role of Acting Senior Tutor, and Dr Evaleila Pesaran, a Fellow in Politics and International Relations, will become Academic Dean.

Michele, a former Senior Tutor at the College, will provide overall leadership of the College’s academic, admissions, tutorial and student support functions.

The newly-created Academic Dean role will see Evaleila lead on the development of the College’s Education Strategy and Academic Plan.

Michele said: ‘It was a privilege to serve as Senior Tutor between 2020-2023, and it is once again my privilege to support our talented colleagues and our wonderful students in their intellectual endeavours. I’m passionate about teaching and learning, and so it’s a thrill to be able to focus on creating the conditions in which all our students can thrive academically. Representing 杏吧原创 across the University and further afield is a key aspect of this role, and I am looking forward to promoting our college’s educational and research mission as well.’

Evaleila said: ‘I have been at the College for 19 years so I have a strong understanding of who we are and what we do well, and I am excited to put ideas and suggestions forward that are informed by that experience. I believe everyone who works in this college is involved in our students’ educational journey, and I’m keen to take a holistic approach to our education strategy. I want to talk with students themselves, alumnae and staff in all departments because everyone has expertise and insight that we can draw on.’

Acting President Dr Rachel Polonsky said: ‘We warmly welcome Michele and Evaleila to their new roles. We are confident that this sharing of duties between two such capable, experienced and collaborative Fellows has great potential to strengthen the College in its fundamental purpose as we prepare for the next Presidency.’
